Aapo Nikunen appointed Director at Finnpulp21.5.2019
Finnpulp Oy, a company preparing a bioproduct mill in Kuopio Finland, has strengthened its project organisation with Aapo Nikunen, an experienced financing and legal professional.
Nikunen has assumed Finance and Legal Director position at Finnpulp in May. Most recently he has worked at Griffin Refineries Oy. Nikunen has previously worked almost 13 years at Metsä Group, lastly as Group Treasurer before moving to Aberdeen Asset Management in Copenhagen and thereafter as Group Treasurer at construction company YIT. Between 2012 – 2015 he worked as CFO at electricity distribution company Elenia. Nikunen brings strong experience and expertise in international financing arrangements, asset management, implementation of investment projects and risk management to Finnpulp.
Nikunen holds LL.M (Trained on the Bench), MBA and M.Sc.in Economics. Nikunen reports to the CEO of Finnpulp.
Finnpulp’s bioproduct mill will be world’s largest single line pulp mill. Annual production capacity will be 1.2 million tons per year. The mill produces 60 000 tonnes tall oil and one TWh bioelectricity to the national grid. Annual wood consumption of the mill is 6,7 million cubic meters. The Mill is expected to be in full operation in 2022. The impact of the 1.4 billion euro investment to the Finnish export revenue will be +1 % and its permanent impact on national employment is 3 400 persons in a year.
