Project Overview

The Climate-Smart Forest Management Initiative represents one of Europe’s most comprehensive approaches to adapting forest ecosystems for climate resilience while maximizing carbon sequestration potential.

Objectives

  • Develop climate-adaptive forest management protocols
  • Create predictive models for forest carbon dynamics
  • Establish demonstration sites across Nordic countries
  • Transfer knowledge to forest practitioners and policymakers

Work Packages

  1. Climate Impact Assessment - Analyzing current and projected climate impacts on Finnish forests
  2. Management Strategy Development - Creating adaptive management protocols
  3. Carbon Monitoring Systems - Implementing advanced monitoring technology
  4. Knowledge Transfer - Disseminating results to stakeholders

Expected Outcomes
